J – Junction:
A junction in a young man’s life comes when he becomes a Jaycees.
Each one of us traveled an individual road of life.
We all have different ideas, different thoughts,
different environment background and different economic status.
Yet, we all one common junction in life.
We now travel the same road,
working together for a better community,
better nation and better world.

A – Action :
The Jaycees produce within a young man, the ability to take action.
We represent a group of citizens able to stand on our own feet.
Men that not only talk about community problems,
but take the action to solve these problems,
men that will tackle the impossible and make it a reality.

Y – Youth :
Jaycees are young men with fire and fight in them waiting to be released.
They are young men that present fresh ideas,
new ways and that are ageless in their working abilities.
They are young citizens that do not comprehend the phrase “ it can’t be done ”.
Jaycees are young men acting today for better tomorrow.

C – Courage :
Jaycees have courage to become leader rather than followers.
Courage to present a project.
Then work like a sawmill to see this project become a success.
Courage to be gallant, knowing the practical experience,
whether a success or failure, is a Jaycees’s greatest teacher.

E – Enthusiasm :
Enthusiasm is the motivation factor of Jaycees.
Enthusiasm is a contagious and spread through the organization like wild fire.
Enthusiasm is the one reason that the Jaycees have enjoyed such a great success.

E – Encouragement :
Jaycees offer encouragement for members to help them better handle the problems of today’s life.
Encouragement for the watery-eyed athlete that failed to make the grade in Junior Chamber.
We are encouragement to the citizens of our community by showing them there is a group of young men interested in making the community to a better place to live.

S – Service :
All of the above Junction, Action, Youth, Courage, Enthusiasm, Encouragement, are put to service in the Jaycees organization.
Services that enhance the Malaysia way of life.
These services are important in JAYCEES life.

The origin of Jaycees can be traced as far back as 1910 to the city of St. Louis, Missouri, in the United States of America.
A young man named Henry "Hy" Giessenbier and his friends formed the Herculaneum Dance Club with the main objective of preserving conservative dance styles.
Five years later in 1915, Colonel H.N. Morgan, a prominent St. Louis citizen, inspired the members of the dance club to become more involved in civic issues. Giessenbier and 32 other young men formed the Young Men's Progressive Civic Association (YMPCA) on October 13, 1915.
This organization grew to a membership of 750 in less than five months.

The very next year, 1916, saw another change of name as the YMPCA became Junior Citizens, commonly called JC's, which later became Jaycees.
During World War I the JC's formed Company "L" of the 138th infantry regiment.
The commander was Dwight Davis who later became assistant secretary of war and donated the Davis Cup Tennis Trophy.
The year 1918 marked another change as the JC's was affiliated to the St. Louis Chamber of Commerce and officially became the St. Louis Junior Chamber of Commerce.
After World War I, Giessenbier contacted other cities in the United States, with similar young businessmen's groups and subsequently 29 clubs from around the nation formed The United States Junior Chamber of Commerce.
Henry "Hy" Giessenbier was elected the first President of the national organization.

The international chapter of the organization began in 1923 with the Winnipeg Board of Trade's becoming the first Junior Chamber outside the United States.
By 1928 the idea of an international body crossed the Atlantic Ocean to England.
During the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, The United States Junior Chamber contacted 42 nations with the idea of forming an International Executive Council of Junior Chambers of Commerce. When 26 countries responded, the International Executive Council was formed.
This council had a very short life span and ceased to exist in 1935. However, the idea did not die.
Five years later a resolution was passed by The U.S. Junior Chamber, approving a program to further mutual interests among Central and South America.
This led to the establishment of Junior Chambers in Mexico City, Guatemala City, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama in 1943.
The realization of Jaycees International was on its way. In 1944 the first international conference called Inter-America Conference was held in Mexico City.
Raul Garcia Vidal from Mexico was elected the first president.
The countries which formed Junior Chamber International in 1944 were: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama and the United States.

We believe :
Every man must believe in some ideal, principle or philosophy.
To believe is to practice what is believed to be true.

That faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life;
"God" here does not refer to any specific religious God, but to a supreme omnipotence.
It does not matter who or what your God is;
the line is just saying that you must believe in something.

That the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations;
This line breaks down all the boundaries that have been imagined by man.
It simply means that all men and women are equal.
It respects allegiance to one's country,
but, at the same time, reinforces the idea that man is a citizen of the world.

That economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise;
The operation words here are "...can best be won.... "
The Jaycees believe that man should be free to use his skills and abilities to the limit in improving his economy.

That government should be of laws rather than of men;
This tenet of the Creed simply means that no man should be above the law,
and that the law should be the same for all man no matter what status they hold in society.
The government must be based on constitutional law, accepted and ratified by a majority of the people.
The power to change laws and elect governments should remain in the hands of a majority of the people.

That earth's great treasure lies in human personality;
Every individual has separate and unique personality.
That is the difference between humans and the other things in the world.
That uniqueness makes the human personality earth's greatest treasure.
It cannot be duplicated nor can it be made.

And that service to humanity is the best work of life.
This final tenet of the Jaycees Creed,
is the logical culmination to the preceding lines.
A person who believes in the Creed will most definitely find service to humanity, not just friend and family.

Through the years JC "leadership training" has guided thousands of young men into better jobs and more secure social lives.
In JC, you gain experience in public speaking..
organising your thoughts more effectively..
expressing them more confidently.
You learn to organize your work...
making more effective use of your time, on the job and off.
You learn to work with people - and to get people to work for you.

2. Career Advancement
Being a JC implies to your boss and others that you are ambitious and enthusiastic...
ready to tackle any job...assume any responsibility.
As a JC, you assume responsibilities usually entrusted to older, more experience men.
When advancement opportunities come, you will be ready for them.

3. Community Recognition
In JC activities, you become known to civic and business leaders in your community.
You work with other groups and leading citizens in a variety of prestige projects
- working with today's leaders for a better future for you and your community

4. Service
Your work in the JC will make you a valued citizen because of your contributions in service...
working to help youth, the needy, the neglected...
working for a community that is more than just a place to earn a living.

5. Friendship
In the JC, you become a part of the sharpest group of young men in town.
And no matter where you might be transferred, there is a Jaycee chapter nearby
- a ready-made circle of friends
- men who believe as you will in taking action to improve the world around them.
